Well the last few weeks have been loco.The word about The Riverside is spreading, more and more are coming out to sample some of North Atlanta's best. The photo topos are evolving to be easier to follow. The climbing is getting good with the colder weather setting in and no more little blood thirsty bugs, Yeah that is definitely worth being exited about.

And then I took a walk down the Appalachian Trail. This thing is no joke. It is steep and gains elevation fast. So we started up this thing hoping the trail on the way up to the top would be lined with boulders. More than you could imagine. There was a few boulders, but not what I was thinking was there. Although the part of the trail I walked didnt have much for rock it made up for in visual stimulation.

After the hike we took off down the road in the Crag huntin mobile and went in search of other areas. So we are driving around the roads and we make a few turns here and there and drive past waterfalls and through a few creeks. Thank you Subaru. Up through a gorge and Boom there were boulders and a campsite right in front of them.

We drove around the area till dark and found a bunch of rock. Then it got dark, Till next time enjoy some pics.

Riverside Boulders

The past week has gone by fast. We had gone out and climbed many new lines and started knocking out climbs that take gear. At this point I believe 80 - 90 percent of the obvious lines will swallow gear. There are some fun beginner cracks and some pulse pumping 5.8 cracks. The season has started, the madness has just begun. We now have a few new people helping in the area. Thanks Chase Medlin, and Josh Edwards for your love of the area. With the word spreading fast it should not be long before you are out and about. We have started working on a photo Topo for the area and hand drawn topo should be finished at the end of the week.

The Super Secret Boulder Project Update 2

It has been a very good week at the stash. I saw a long term project go to pieces as The Minnick worked out the finishing moves and sent it in a moment of bliss. We have also been working on the Topo. I have gone through and logged all the GPS locations for all the walls. The GPS has givin me some info to share. The outcrop stretches about a half mile long with boulders and walls spread out pretty evenly. Other than that things are still moving fast with the weather being so nice. We are hoping to take a few people out for a preview of the area and get some other opinions of the area.

The plan for the next week is to try to get second ascents on some of the Moderates to obtain a consensus grade for some climbs. As things are we have about 60 problems and short routes. With little over a quarter of the areas developed.

I am looking forward to getting my Mentor and Coach out for some FA's on a couple of short routes. Here are a few more pics for yall to look through.

The Update Post

For the past week. We have been drawing Topos, starting online Databases, and destroyed many brushes. We have cleaned a few cracks, Lots of overhangs and bunches of holds, small and large.

Things are coming around nicely. The trail is being more defined and easier to follow. In the next week or two the trees should drop their leafs and I will get pics of the full walls for your viewing pleasure. Untill next week a few more pics for you to enjoy. Oh a hint Go 85 North to Exit....

Well after a long year I have discovered the most interesting little crag in Gwinnett Co. It is truely a north atlantians dream come true. It started with many miles Kayaked and many more hiked through the woods. Bushwacking in hopes of discovering something new. I have come across boulders from North GA to roswell. This area is going to be a fun new addition to atlantas climbing. No more driving 2 hours in each direction to touch some stone.

Soon you will be able to take a afternoon and turn it into a nice outdoor evening climbing on real rock. So far we have gone through the area and found Slabs, Overhangs, Vertical walls and crack climbing. The Gwinnett crag has a million and one ways to mantle a finish. These boulders range from small to large between 8 ft- 25 ft or so. There are many boulders I would estimate from what we have found to be as many as 20 0r so boulders and discovering more all the time. At this time Development is taking place at a fast rate and much thanks to Andrew Minnick and Robb Slocum for working so hard to get this new area clean and ready for the climbing community. Mr Minnick has put up problems at a rapid pace and is doing so 2 to 3 times a week. Slocum is the fastest scrubber alive he can have a problem clean in 10 minutes flat. The climbing has been ranging from VB-V get a project it has it all. We are currently developing the area drawing topos rating and naming climbs. The directions and Topos will be out on April 20th for all to see and enjoy.

Opps I forgot to tell you, ITS THE BEST ROCK QUALITY AROUND ATLANTA NOT INCLUDING BOATROCK!!!!!!!!
